Joe Bonamassa

The advertised “Guitar Event of the Year” held to its word when Joe Bonamassa blasted through a Two hour 20 minute set at the Benedum Center in Pittsburgh, PA.

No stranger to these parts, Joe has played Moondogs, The Rex Theater, The Greensburg Palace Theatre, The Carnegie and now his third time to the Benedum Center for a two night stand.

Joe Bonamassa

The second night braving a cold, Joe blasted through a set heavily relying on his latest release “Blues of Desperation,” a couple Bonamassa chestnuts and a fistful of Albert King, Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton, B.B. King covers.   At age 39, Bonamassa shows no signs of slowing down. With 26 albums under his belt since 2000 Joe will soon need a bigger pair of pants. Here’s hoping that on album 27, he finds the sound he’s looking for. Hell, it took Fleetwood Mac 14 records and line-up changes before they broke through with “Rumors”.  Joe has changed band line-ups and themes many times. This go around Joe’s band featured an impressive roster including the road return of keyboard legend Reese Wynans. drummer Anton Fig, bassist Michael Rhodes, trumpet player Lee Thornburg, sax player Paulie Cerra and backup singers Juanita Tippins and Jade MacRae.
